A unique and groundbreaking recording to mark the 40th anniversary of The International Staff Songsters, featuring four choral symphonies with orchestral accompaniment.
"In recent years the partnership between Stephen Pearson and Richard Phillips has produced the four Choral Symphonies presented on this album. All the symphonies follow the traditional format of four movements and are demanding and emotional in equal measure. Covering themes of: Holiness, Aspiration, Devotion, Thanksgiving, Courage, Hope, Trust, Triumph, Light, Peace, Joy, Love, Creation, Acclamation, Contemplation and Salvation, each movement challenges the listener to understand God’s love and his promise of redemption through our acceptance of Christ’s sacrifice for us.
This album is groundbreaking for Salvation Army choral music, due to the luscious orchestration conceived by Richard and this unique collaboration. The sound palette at our disposal gives even greater poignancy and drama to the text. Along with the live performance of all these works with the London Mozart Players in the Fairfield Halls in March 2020, to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the ISS, my desire is that the occasion will allow us to celebrate the past, enjoy the present and look forward with confidence to the future of Salvation Army singing. Thank you for sharing this experience with us."
