The first Premier Brass concert took place in 2002 and was the initiative of Howard J. Evans, who at the time was Bandmaster of the Amsterdam Staff Band. The purpose of the concert was to build a bridge between Salvation Army Bands and the wider brass band world. The concert, featuring the Amsterdam Staff Band (ASB) and Brassband Rijnmond was a great success and subsequent concerts saw the ASB share the stage with the brass bands of De Bazuin Oenkerk, Schoonhoven, De Wâldsang and Soli Deo Gloria.
2010 saw a reunion of the original participants with Howard J. Evans returning to Holland as the guest conductor. This recording of concert highlights features solo contributions from both bands and concludes with four items played by the combined bands.
